Invasive Plant Presentation

Today, we learned about the vast number of plants we have here in Leon County. We learned about some "invasive" or bad plants that can harm us, other animals, or overtake other plants. We learned how toe cognizant these plants when we see them, and how to get rid of them appropriately.

T.K. Wetherell was president of FSU when Mrs Owen graduated. The kids were obsessed with his statue and thought Mrs. Owen must be really old to have shook his hand at her graduation.

Recycling Superheroes

We have studied recycling throughout the year. This week we have been working on "Recycling Superheroes". Our superheroes all have special powers to help the planet. All superheroes are made from material found in our recycling bin. We are learning how to reuse material, instead of creating more waste. The biggest challenge has been trying to connect the pieces without tape or glue (as this creates more waste)! The students have really risen to the challenge. Here are a few pictures of our class working on their superheroes.
