Flat Stanley is at College!

Ms. Osborne sent the class a picture of our Flat Stanleys with their college students today. They are ready to start their adventure! We can't wait to hear about their travels in a few weeks.

Happy Veterans Day!

Enjoy your day off tomorrow. Don't forget to thank a veteran for your freedom! There are many events going on around town to honor our veterans.

Know a vet? Take them out to eat at one of these many places offering veterans discounts/free meals tomorrow: http://freebies.about.com/od/freefood/tp/veterans-day-free-meals.htm

Veterans in the Classroom

We were so fortunate to have Captain Turnbull and Major Turner visit our classrooms today. They shared great information with our classes, and help our students understand the true meaning of Veteran's Day. Our class learned a great deal about what our military men and women do for us everyday. They also learned the history of Veterans Day, and got to hear first hand accounts of Captain Turnbull's and Major Turner's experiences in the Air Force and Army.

Updates

I got a little behind updating the blog! We have been learning a great deal about plants and ecosystems in the past few weeks. Through our celery experiment, we found that the celery changes colors according to the colored water it was sitting in. We learned the reason this happens is because the celery soaks up the water into its stem, and sends nourishment through the rest of the plant to keep it alive.

Pumpkinology was a great success. We had lots of fun, and pictures will be posted soon.

Mrs. Owen's homeroom class read about Flat Stanley. We "flattened" our own Stanleys and sent them to college! They will be on an adventure at Flagler College for the next few weeks, and will return to us the Monday before Thanksgiving. We can't wait to hear about their adventures. (Ms. Francois's homeroom will complete this activity in the spring).

Keep practicing your multiplication facts in math! We are working hard on becoming Multiplication Masters. So far we have several people who have earned ice cream and one topping. Keep learning those facts!
